Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Pokemon needs a Serious Action Game

The pokemon games are fun but arent you guys tired of turned based action. Imagine the whole pokemon formula redone. Well for a new series of games. I was talking with my friend and we had this idea for a pokemon game for the Wii like no other.

- Seamless World Online - You will be be able to travel the various islands seamlessly with no loading times and battle anyone online or offline. You can travel anywhere, surf, fly, underground collect items, everything. I mean imagine flying on you charizard in realtime and using flamethrower on innocent civillians only to be chased down by a dozen officer jenny with arcanine and such. sounds like fun.

- Action/Realtime Battles - We all love the turn based battles, well a lot of us do, but many of us have asked for action paced battles for years now. I mean, imagine being able to control your pokemon in battle instead of just telling them what to do. Sounds epic.

- Character System- Not only should everyone be able to design their own character, but they should be able to choose whether they want to start off as a good guy, or start off as a team rocket/galactic/ whatever member they want to be on.

This was just the start of our ideas but if the game (Pokemon: Rain) or whatever it shall be called ever did release on Wii nintendo's future console would you guys be interested in that kind of ideas. Oh and also add your ideas in too. cool.

Wouldn't be a hassle to get the pokemon all the moves how they do it and what moves they learn. We are not that far in technolgy to do that. Though it would be epic to see

Have you played Pokemon Rumble? I liked the game, but real time battles probably wouldn't be that much fun in a Pokemon game

While we're at it, why don't we put in guns, and regenerating health?

Leave Pokemon the way it is! *sucks thumb*

Do they still have the demo? I can't imagine a pokemon spin off that isn't XD that is good.

No the demo is gone. Its a good game, mostly because they are a lot of pokemon fighting at once, and you only have 2 attacks. Pokemon rumble works, but i don't think that one on one real time fights would be fun.

But what do I know, I haven't played a pokemon battle in real time, so it might work

A hassle? Maybe. But it would be well worth it. I would be willing to wait for the next Nintendo console to play it, just to get maximized graphics and better gameplay out of it. And I do believe the Wii could do it. Yeah it would be very content heavy, having to include moves, abilities, natures, characteristics, etc. but oh man sounds like a dream game.

I have seen few people saying they want a Pokemon game where they fight each other in the same manner as the anime. Similar idea with this thread, though with MMO-like features. Hm........Do I really want that? Will it make the franchise fall to it's death?..............I think core Pokemon fans wouldn't like this at all, that's for sure. I'm not too sure what to think of this. But I do know myself, that the gameplay will need to drastically change for the better. Gen V will not be that interesting if all they have to offer is just new Pokemon, IMO at least.

I don't think you should have direct control over your pokemon, but command then in real time (speed would be a more meaningful stat!). Sure you would be able to give a few more commands than in usual games, but still not be overly-specific. In a perfect world the pokemon would have a learning AI so that they'd get more than just metaphysical experience out of battles, and actually carry orders in a more effective way or know what to do when you don't give an order in time either because you can't decide, is getting an item, or it's a 2 on 2 fight or maybe a 'no orders given gym fight' or something. Also, cut the number of pokemon a bit and balance it well :P

Anyway, I'd like a real-time game on console, and there would still be room for TB ones on handheld.

I've though about that idea, commanding you pokemon in real time. Yeah that would be cool too. I mean as long as you can command your pokemon to do certain things like dodge (which would fail if someone used extreme speed, or mach punch) then I'm fine. But anyways, you guys like the idea huh. A live action pokemon mmo for Wii.
