Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Should I Buy a Xbox 360?

The only way to buy an HD console is new. Buy it used, face the consequences. If it's someone you think you can trust though, go for it.
Usually used consoles are abused, or modded, so that would be my concern.
If you think you can get a guarantee of it working, go ahead. The console exclusives (and HD multiplatforms) make it worth it.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I wouldn't buy it used. I would be too worried that it was one of the ones banned from Live

Everyone is covered by the 3 year warranty, even used console owners. You're well covered.

Didn't know that. That's good, just ask the buyer if it isn't modded, and if it isn't go for it!

Since the 360 has a 60gb hard-drive that means it is probably less than a year old. Since the warranty for the 360 is tied to the console and not the sales receipt that means even if you buy it used your still under warranty. So you will still have around 2 years of warranty on the 360 if anything goes wrong. However make sure he hasn't opened or modded the console in any way because that voids the warranty.

How much is he selling you the 360 for btw?

Also I would wait until after X10 to see if MS announce anything about bundling Natal if that interests you at all.

Overall though the 360 is an amazing console and I highly recommend it. If you do buy the console make another thread with your gaming interests so we can recommend you games.

Idk man , can you be sure it's not a banned box these days? How does that work? Will a reformat and new GTag fix it? Modded? The 3 yr replacement deal in Canada takes 8-10 days but it would be nice to know you could take advantage. Check the seal and put the seriel no. on an acct. on xbl to see what it says maybe? I've changed mine manually.

You could get $80 easy for a 60 GB and a controller on kijiji if E74 happens and you don't want to pay Mr. Fixit. They're twice that new. EB charges $100 for a refurb 60 hd alone. If it lasts a couple years a new arcade could be a C note.

They will play any game you can buy now and almost everything in the future. Not Natal games obviously but I expect much longer support for the 360. The Big Black Box was a miniaturel black hole financially so it got fazed. The 360 is BC for original Xbox titles through downloaded emulators. Don't build a library till you're sure.

dont buy it with out the warranty it might not happen on the first year or the second but from just bad luck it always happens eventually and with out the warranty you would have to repair it yourself (which isnt that hard but a huge bother)

but you never know my first 360 broke in year one but my new one has been going on for more then a year now

i would highly recommend you buy a 360 if your willing to pay for the online ( not like $50 bucks is a lot but for some people it is something that gets on there nerves) but if your not then i would recommend the ps3

it might be banned or something, i wouldnt do it

Don't listen to any of these people. You can buy an used xbox and there is no risk. If you buy a used xbox make sure it has a date of 2008+ and you have 1-2 years of no questions warranty. Just make sure that it hasn't been opened by looking at the seal behind the faceplate...

Being that you are in CAnada, you warranty should not be hard to take advantage of in case something does go wrong.

Xbox has a lot of quality games, probably most out of all 3 systems this gen and the cool thing about them is that they are dirt cheap for older classic titles. Things you need to get to enjoy xbox to the fulest are:

HD TV...a 32 inch 720p Dynex does the job wonderfully if you don't have one. Best buy had them for 299 few weeks ago.

Online servince with xbox live. You get 1 free month with your xbox but after thats its 40-50 bucks a month, depending the deal you find on kijiji, craigslist

Haha no risk? Really? Be reasonable man. Saying NO risk is crazy even for a NEW 360. Actually, if u said there was no risk in a used ps3 that would still be unreasonble bc, even though ps3's are generally reliable, u have no idea how the system was treated by its previous user(s). Anyways, if ur going to purchase one of the 2 HD consoles, I would do your research on each system's game library. IMO and for my taste, the ps3 has the best games by far. But take a look at both system's games and then decide whether u do or don't want that 360. But then again ur getting it used, so I guess it's not really 360 vs ps3, just 360 or no 360 since u don't have a used ps3 being offered to u. Moving on, if u want it go for it. However, just so u know, 360s do have a very high failure rate. Personally, I don't know a single person who's 360 hasn't crapped out at least once. So def make sure it has a warranty. If not I'd say no way.
