Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy XIII 70% Review Score from UK PSM3.

^ People use the words to many when they don't like something very much. To many cutscenes in FFXIII can mean some cutsenes suck/are boring. If the cutscenes were nice they would not see it as an negative point.

So... how many people will blame this on the 360 version?

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

let's all blame 360 for this low score???...yeah???...that sounds about right...

ok but for reals....

@chenguo4...

really???...not evolve???...FF series is the one series known to evolve EVERY release or implement something NEW to the jrpg genre...so i guess ff1 ff7 and ff13 all have same gameplay...and hasn't evolved...

there was a HUGE evolution from ff6 to ff7 couple minors in between up to X and then another HUGE evolution in XII...

if it's about not evolving and what not...persona4 should get the trophy for that imo....but persona3 and persona4 was awesome...still pretty much the same game...just some MINOR changes...no big changes like FF series

Yeah, thats true, but everytime they try something new you see the old fans bitching about it, they have done it with many FF games before this.

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I don't get why JRPGs get hammered for being "staple" and "need to evolve" or something, yet FPS gets off with that. And MAG scoring over FFXIII? Yeah, right!

Shhh, don't you know that FPS don't need evolution to be fun and that they can all be the same thing, or a downgrade from PC FPS's from the late 90's, early 2000? :P

JRPG's have to evolve in each game, other wise the genre is dead, doomed, put into a grave, tossed aside and burned at the stake.

Looks like Jrpg as a genre is at a point where it is no longer relevant in the west. ITs time for it to evolve in to something else (MMO's maybe?) or go in to niche territory. Their current state actually reminds me of 2D fighters/sidescrolers and where they were in the late 90s. Getting medicore reviews and having a hardcore following and nothing more...

That's almost like saying Fighting games need to evolve into something else, like FPS.

JPRG, as any genre, can always do well with a little innovation, even in a radical way in some cases, but it is still a very consolidated genre and no single game or reviews trends will mean its final day anytime soon.

wow, they must not be into van halen
