Actually, until Xenoblade arrives. That game will be the definitive rpg this gen. It will blow every other jrpg out the water (at least story and music-wise).

Well...if you look at the 9.25 it got, it obviously did something right and I don't remember a game EVER having to really do anything NEW to be good, most games just improve on an already used formula. And that was a reference to when Kitase said it was in its own RPG Category...SOOO it is the Definitive RPG of this Generation.

The best game ever i.e. MGS4 didn't meta over 96

so clearly FF13 would have to meta below 96 to be the RPG of the generation

It's revolutionary for both games and RPG's. It's the first game where the choices in the first will affect not only the 2nd but the 3rd game. How many games have 3 friends playing it individually with completely different stories within it. Completely different. The first RPG where actual Role Playing is at it's heart not stats. More than any other Rpg you actually feel like your grooming the character you are. His ideals, choices, relationships and destiny. That is role playing. Not finding some more armour your never going to use. After all stats derive from tabletop RPG's before computers existed. The only reason stats were there was to act as a means of attack and defense. The role playing was in the decisions for your character and paths you would choose. With computers working out the stats, we should never need to see stats anymore.

I guess we all have our opinions. But I cant see FF13 being definitive in terms of reviews on meta. ME2 is the definitive RPG of the gen.

You came into this thread looking for trouble and to stir up people who are expecting FFXIII to be good and will ultimately find FFXIII better than Mass Effect 2, or any other game you enjoy better.

Why can't you let people decide what's better and what's not? Your opinion isn't worth more than the others. If people find FFXIII to be the definitive RPG of the gen for them, then let them, it's not up to you to decide.

I also distinctly recall you not wanting the same attitudes when it was concerned to ME2 threads, so I will kindly ask you to step down from this attitude or I will report you.

What you've written here is your subjective view on the game's mechanics. You havent mentioned a single thing that Mass Effect 2 does that hasnt been done before.

Even the ability to import saves you seem to be so proud about has been done almost 10 years ago with Wizardry 8.
