The only one that really even has a chance is Halo Reach.

The only one that really even has a chance is Halo Reach.

from that list only Halo reach has a very small possibility to do this, because Halo is very very top heavy

FF isn't anywhere as big as CoD, GT isn't anywhere as top heavy and God of War .. really, man who are you trying to kid ? GoW may reach 4 million lifetime, but not 8 million launch week

right now only World of Warcraft:Cataclysm can really endanger that record imho, but this won't be tracked

FFXIII doesn't have a chance, but should still be very respectable.

God of War 3 is the joke of this list. At best it might break a million first week. How excited can people be for a hack n' slash?

I'd be surprised if GT5 has an opening as big as previous games.

Halo Reach has a very strong chance of breaking record or being at par.

Halo Reach has a chance at beating MW2 first week sales from 360 alone, but I think the combined sales from 360/PS3 is a mark that will stand for quite some time.

Burning Crusade did 2.4 million first week. And about 3.5 million the first month.

Lich King did 2.8 million first week.

Modern Warfare 3? Maybe GTA V
Nothing else stands a chance of beating the combined total

@ Mr Puggsly )

uhm.. BC and Lich King numbers are both first day (thursday release afaik) - oh yea where is that 3.5m number from? I don't see it in the links

btw these numbers only cover NA, Europe and some asian states (excluding china - one of the biggest WoW markets) and aren't really "world wide" as the CoD VGC numbers

still that probably means cataclysm will fall short some millions as well.. next contender (this year) maybe is Starcraft 2 ? If all koreans buy it instantly it might stand a chance, heh

None of those. It took 5 years for a game to finally beat San Andreas (PS2 only). Maybe in 5 more years, or Modern Warfare 3.

That's right, just one "d"
