Everyone calm down already, we won't find out anything until March 9-13 when GDC starts.

With rumors so far ahead of GDC, if it's true it's common knowledge among publishers, then we'll likely know more about it before GDC.
A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.
Why would they release a DS2 or Wii2? There systems dominate the global marketplace and the only time they get beat is when the other systems have a price drop. It isn't worth the effort to release a new system when the old ones are beating out everyone else and continue to do so both in hardware and software.
These rumors are more FUD then anything. They want people to think Nintendo is going to release a new system so they wont buy the current ones. And, since when has Nintendo shown anything major at GDC? Heck, when was the last time something from TWITTER correct?
I don't understand how can people be thinking about a new DS.
A new pokemon gen is coming for the current DS, Nintendo said.
A new platform announcement would cut some sales for this game.

Could be forwards compatible, like Gold and Silver
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
i'm sure i remember nintendo saying that the ds was not a replacement for the gameboy. so i'm calling first prediction of a new gameboy which will be a more traditional handheld with gamecube type specs and gamecube games for download

It could be, Ubisoft might be trying to take on Natal. Next month they are releasing Racquet Sports, it's compatable with the camera so you can play controller free

Every thing that you've said Echo's my belife.
To the person that stated that the release of the DSi XL does not have affect the announcement of the DS2. Yes it does. It would not make financial sense or business sense to launch the DSi XL if they are going to launch the successor. People would not waste their money on the DSi XL when the successor would lauch this fall. Secondly the manufacturing cost of the DSI XL would come in to play as would the marketing costs. That's too much money to spend and retailers would not purchase the DSI XL fearing that the successor would undermine its sales potential.
If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba
