Devils are now a cup contender? (more so)

Well it looks like you'll only get him for one year. Then he's a free agent right? The chances of him staying could be pretty low.

holy smokes! That's crazy! He could be a 50 goal scorer on the devils and give them much needed offense. Holy crap, I just looked at who the thrashers got and besides the 1st round pick they got nothing!

Oduya is an excellent defenseman. He's having a poor year, but most players usually do after signing a big contracts. Bergfors is a rookie having a good year. Cormier is that prospect who elbowed the other guy in the head...........don't think he'll amount to much because he seems off mentally. 1st rounder is gunna be a late one, so not much there.

Overall it's not too great a package for a top 5 forward in the NHL.......but it's better than losing him for nothing at the end of the year, and potentially missing the playoffs as well, like what essentially happened with J Bo and Florida.

Kovalchuk doesn't seem to be a player made for the Devils......he's more of an offense first guy, whereas the Devils are......well, the Devils.

Devils look a lot better.......can't bode well for the rest of the East.

It won't be too different from Thrashers for him though. He's still going to be the one providing all of the offense. Devils are a great defensive team, but I'm sure we can all agree they're pretty weak on the offensive side of things (minus Kovalchuk of course).
In other news, Capitals extend their winning streak to 12 games, with Ovechkin scoring yet another highlight reel goal.

Wow....a team in NJ is actually a contender for something.....
