Forums - Microsoft Discussion - IGN editors share their take on Mass Effect 2.

Did the people talking about GTA watch the video? If that guy on the end reviewed ME2 it would have gotten a 10. A review is given by one person from these review sites not the entire staff.

If you want to buy a game based on reviews thats fine but to compare scores two different people gave is asinine.

Bottom line ME2 is awesome and every gamer should give it a try. Same goes with Uncharted 2 and the other AAA games.

Its on the normal difficulty level. Im not pretending its just my preferance. I'm not hating on the game at all I said I enjoyed it. I already pointed out what I prefered in part one. As everyone can agree with the two games are very different, so why is it so hard for some of you to take that someone would enjoy one over the other?

I have no problem with anyone preferring the original Mass Effect. It was a great game, and I can see reasons why some people would prefer it. However, your only real complaint about Mass Effect 2 is that it's "too easy". Considering that the game allows you to adjust the difficulty on-the-fly, I find that an extremely odd complaint.

(By the way, every class can steamroll through the game on Normal. It's not meant for experienced gamers.)

That wasn't my only complaint. I also made mention to the fact that the xp you earn after a fight doesn't show up. it feels more TPS than FPS, and as far as TPS's are concerned its deff not my type. Im not going to re-type my post you can read them if you want, but that was only one thing I didn't like.

I didn't say it was your only complaint; I said it was your only real complaint.

No, "not seeing the XP you earn after a fight" isn't a real complaint. However, it does make me wonder what your reaction would be if you learned that Mass Effect 2 doesn't actually award any XP for fighting...

lol thats why i cant see it. I didnt know that but thats the thing maybe its just my preferance it just doesn't feel like an RPG. and i prefered how things were set up in the first game. hopefuly things change, but if not it wont be a big deal still a fun game.

LOL. Yeah, it definitely scales back on the traditional RPG elements compared to the first one. I still love the game for what it is, but I'd also like to see what a more refined version of the original Mass Effect would look like.

I think ME2 deserves praise, but not that much. I am one of those who like the first one better. The story felt more intense (content wise) and the battle system in ME2 feels stripped down to ME1. In ME1 you had to learn to use a weapon and you got better with it through skill points. ME2 in comparison is "just" a shooter with rpg dialog options.
But i guess that's the way, the majority wants it.

Maybe when I put more time I will be so used to it I would then actually prefer ME2 because it is fun. I just beat ME1 for the first time last week and picked this game up two days later so ME1 is fresh in my mind.

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

I do disagree with the IGN staff but I'm at least glad to see that they all feel the same, would be kinda awkward if they all felt widely different about it.
Also, I was surprised that the guy who sounded the most negative was actually the one who thought it deserved a 10/10...

Story wise ME2 is a nice step up from ME1. It takes what ME1 gave us and really developes it into a full universe.

Combat wise it is a huge improvement over the first, and not just from a technical point. The classes are far more balanced and the faster recharge (but one power only) is a big improvement over ME1.

ME2 improves on ME1 in everyway excpet the skill point system, which I really missed at the beginning, but now that I've built my character up it basically has the same number of skills as my old ME1 character it just takes you time to get to everything.

I wish I was an editor so people took my opinions more seriously.
