Well they are obviously working on Resistance 3. No one spends money on advertisement for something that is not coming out. (see the R3 billboard which was planted in the background of filming an upcoming movies).

The ending from Resistance 2 shows that the story actually continues, so it's really no wonder that they're working on a sequel to pick up from where the last one ended...
