Not bad for being niche games.
with no more heroes debut, probably we will see this game on HD consoles like the first one.

That depends entirely on how Heroes Paradise sells. Ubi's not even publishing that game though, so it's chances are already better (lol).
TvC very good, NMH2 should have sol better. I think NMH2 it will be adjusted up when NPD numbers come next week.
"but it could definitely do better than the minor cult hit the first one was imo."
Nearly half a million copies is not a minor cult hit. That's around 100K sales.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

It did almost half that in budget sales though, and a good amount bundled with Red Steel in America even.
Anyway, my point is that NHM2 as a game is a lot more accessible than the original, and more marketable too imo. It really should be doing better than the original, not just matching it... and frankly, I'd put the blame on Ubi's shoulders. They sent it to die.

That doesn't mean a cult hit either. It just means a hit at a price most people were willing to pay for it.
But I agree that not marketing this one as well is annoying.

Yeah, I agree. I should've said "cult hit", and left out the minor. It reminds me a lot of sales for Viewtiful Joe last gen, a fundamentally niche game, almost like an indie darling but on a console and from a big publisher. Unlike VJ though, at least the sequel seems to be keeping up.
The thing is a semi deconstruction of things that are already niche does make mainstream a big stretch for this series.

I agree, though such a scenario isn't impossible. I would say Wario Ware is a good example of everything you just said actually happening, it's hugely referential towards a specific gaming subculture (even in the gameplay itself) and very much a design deconstruction (moreso than NHM even I'd say) and it still sold HUGE.
Then again, there's worlds of difference when looking at a product pushed by Nintendo versus a product pushed by Ubisoft. Which brings us back to "sent to die". :(
