threads like this used to mean something to me, now, i feel like its a wast of time as i fear that somewhere down the road a few million will be adjusted again and all the discussions and excitement that had taken place would mean shit.

i hope not, ps3 is undertracked enough as it is already

no it isnt.

And to answer your other piont, how does it prove shortages in the US caused it to dip below 200k last week?.... US sales have hardly changed this week.

75k to 90k hello thats 15k right there, anyway i guess i won't argue, it's not worth it

you know what i said both deserve to be higher to u anyways lol

31.76M sold LTD as of Jan 30, 2010 base on VGC numbers

33.5M shipped LTD as of DEC 09...

your statment is true if there wasnt a single PS3 shipped during January around the world. this would mean that sony shipped too many  ps3s in dec and only sold the stocks during january.

but then again, there are some here who claim that the ps3 was understocked during  december and up until now, ps3s are selling out in their local store. this would lead us to believe that there have been shippments of ps3s somewhere in the us and around the world. how many were shipped during january? i have no idea.

hence using 33.5m shipped and comparing it to the 31.76M sold is incorrect.

if we look at vgc's life time sales up to Jan 02, 2010, ps3 is at 30.8M

VGChartz Hardware data for the period 10th Jan 1993 to 02nd Jan 2010:

Console PS3
Total
30,850,496

however, LTD Dec 09 shippment of PS3 is 33.5M

this would mean that at the end of 2009, there were about 2.7M ps3s sitting on shelves worldwide. but  during december, there have been multiple reports that ps3s were selling out in their local stores and in online stores. if this is true, then almost all of the december shippment would have sold out to consumers (120gig probably, leaving the 250gig to rott in hell), meaning that there should be far less than 2.7M ps3s left sitting on shelves, meaning the ps3  is indeed undertracked anywhere from 700k-2M

Yeah, cos all PS3's built and shipped before the end of 2009 appear by osmosis on shelves immediately....  ever heard of a cargo ship?  a truck?  a warehouse?  perhaps even forward orders.

i give up, sigh, lets just agree to disagree yes

NSMB Wii sold lower than expected :(

It's still supply constrained.  Sell-through is 96% this week!

And, uh, 2.7m units in the channel isn't AT ALL unreasonable. That's actually pretty normal if anything... VGC has a similar margin for 360 even iirc.
