Americas Preorders Chart, 23rd Jan 2010:

Mass Effect 2 - 475,782
MAG: Massive Action Game - 245,491

I knew the preorder charts were too high for MAG
Still a good start.

I suspect the Beta gathered MAG most of its buyers, while some who placed pre-orders didn't like the Beta and cancelled.  I'm not sure the pre-order totals get decremented as well as incremented.

Either that or the number was way high, but it's actually closer to final sales than ME2 pre-orders, so I think it's more likely at a point it looked like MAG had accumulated 250 K pre-orders but no-one was decrementing the 50K who changed their mind and cancelled.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

So are the Wii shortages rumors true? Also seems like Wii fit ples is getting hard to find:

We've had one journalist report and an analyst has claimed significant shortages, aside from anecdotal evidence. If it's not 'confirmed' it's very close to confirmed.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

can you pre-order games in the us without paying for it. a good explanation is that people wanted the beta code, and didnt buy the game after.

Depends on the store but it usually costs $5 but i have seen places for higher and omse that don't charge at all.

Most stores will also allow you to return the pre-order and get store credit. I know I have done that.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.

I just lost so much Vg$.

Take my love, take my land..

No More Heroes 2's numbers may not be stellar, but they have outperformed the original by a fair margin.

35,375 vs 41,648

Not bad for a sequel. Hopefully the legs will be stronger also.

Very likely although I think way more than 50k cancelled their preorder.

The American chart provides data for 5 whole days of MAG sales.

EDIT: kowenicki was faster......

Most stores charge, but will give you a credit if you change your mind. So people probably shifted their pre-order to BFBC2 or GoW3. Something bloody at least.

Really? I didn't look up the numbers for NMH1 because I was sure it sold better than NMH2. Sometimes it feels good to be wrong.

I hope for an announcement from Rising Star Games today or tomorrow regarding the European release.

No More Heroes 2 is underperforming it seems.

SWEET! XBOX back on top in the good ole USA... thats all I care about, that we support our American product. I could care less what it sells in Japan.

Go XBOX... sony fanboys may say that its coming back strong and XBOX is doomed... but if they look around, at their neigbors, their schoolmates, people they work with... us Americans have the (se)Xbox and they are welcome to jump on their playstation and play against foreigners any time while we are kicking ass in english!
