Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sonic the Hedgehog 4-Episode 1 Announced for Xbox Live, PSN and WiiWare!

Remember guys, these are the people who gave us Sonic Unleashed!

Kidding aside, this'll be interesting. I wonder which platform it'll perform the best on.

I'm so happy right now!

They'll screw it up, I have no faith that Sega is capable of creating a classic, 2-d Sonic game.

Sega thinks that Sonic is all about speed now, which couldn't be further from the truth. I've been playing Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 pretty consistently lately, and the game design is the exact opposite of Sonic Rush and Sonic Unleashed. Slow, deliberate platforming mixed in with the occasional speedy segment. Of course, the main difference is that the speedy segments rarely have bottomless pits or enemies scattered within them.

Sonic 3 especially, is far more about exploring the dozens of paths in a single level, than about speed.

I'm also pissed that they chose 3-d graphics. 3-d is ugly, the game's graphics will age poorly, it'll never have the same appeal as the Genesis games. Don't call it Sonic the Hedgehog 4 if the graphics aren't going to match the old Genesis games.

Hype level: 0.

Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

seriously

Doing this in episodes is good.

That means the quality has to stay for people to continue to buy it.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I never understood how Sonic the Hedgehog was suppose to be better than Super Mario World.

Lets see if this game is better than New SMB Wii.

(answer: I seriously doubt it)

The graphics look rather lackluster and Sonic's running pose should be way better. I'm not entirely convinced, but this could be cool.

so they are going the new super maroi bros route

The running you see in the trailer is not actually Sonic's fastest running animation in the game.

I can't reveal much more than that right now, but as a fan of the old games, I will vouch that I think Sonic 4 is a great step in the right direction.
