Hm, I always used to think Bozon was pretty alright. I stopped visiting IGN quite some time ago though, so I wouldn't know about recent times, but still.

Who's left in the Nintendo team over there now, anyway? Can't be a lot.

I'd like to see IGN switch out their entire Nintendo team and bring in some people for a new approach. Preferably a broader group and not just male enthusiasts in their 20's and 30's.

Rather than have young male hardcore gamers review games like Just Dance, Cabela's Big Game Hunter, etc., which is just retarded and pointless, they should bring in small groups of people every week or so (not necessarily the same people each time), have them play a bunch of recent Wii games in a session, let people play what interests them (though make sure everything is tried), and then write reviews based on this process.

sooo.... I really don't pay attention to all the IGN drama, but is he one of the Wii haters over there? I can never keep it straight.

He always seemed to be more interested in the 360 than the Wii (always playing Call of Duty every time I heard from him in the podcasts ) but I enjoyed his reviews. His brother is involved in WayForward Studios, so it was pretty neat to have somewhat of an insider look into what was happening over there.

In short, he was a pretty good member, but he never really had that "Nintendo" vibe for a Nintendo oriented team.

Don't forget he used to work with Wayforward as well, and even when he turned reviewer he helped with Contra 4.

So yeah he had an insiders view from the developers perspective, but he made some really bad reviews every so often, and other times he makes amazing reviews, the bad reviews had factually inaccurate statements, but the great reviews were good for the old school/niche gamers perspective, and thats where I fit, so they were rather good.  Never really saw he was a hater/more interested in any console just not giving some games the time that he should and made some inacurate reviews because of that.

Thank goodness. Yet another reviewer who downgraded games he personally disliked (RPGs/Anime games) and was very unprofessional. Not that the rest of the guys at IGN are much better or much of their practices will change.

He was OK. Some reviews were good, others inaccurate, but I never recalled hating him.
IGN Nintendo is one step closer to falling into the grave.

After four and a half awesome years I’ve decided it’s time to move on from IGN. Before any speculation starts as to why, let me get this out of the way. I am in fact female, the baby ISN’T Matt’s, and I am at least partially concerned that I’m long overdue (by 27 years). Once the kid drops I’ll let you know. Until then, I carry this bun in the oven, my feminine features hidden by the outward appearance of an overweight nerd that loves writing about games.

u people did notice that Mark is female right?

I... don't think that's exactly what he/she saying there.

I mean, he's done podcasts and video reviews right?  There are pictures or something.

If anything it probably means he's transgendered and plans to go under treatments to change sex.

Or it's just a joke... which the rest of the blog actually suggests.  (all seriousness)

It's a joke, he's making fun of the wild speculation he expects to see on the internet.

Not true he loves the Naruto games, he talked about it over and over, on podcasts he gets excited when a new one is coming up.  As for RPGs I never really read one of his RPG reviews, I literally can't even remember a single RPG he reviewed, unless you count FFCC TCB as an RPG and its an action adventure game.

He had a tendancy to focus on one thing in a genre (anime, RPG or otherwise) and try to compare everything to that.  Such as with Anime games, he would review many Anime based games (as everyone  at the Nintendo devision just seemed to dump them all on him) and just used examples of past Animes he 'liked' or knew and compared all the games he reviewed to those.  Similar habits showed up in RPGs, such as trying to compare Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest games to Final Fantasy.  It was an annoying habit that I feel influenced his judgement and caused him to further downscore games because they weren't 'like' certain games or Anime.

Ahh what anime based games and RPGs are you talked about?  I know he does that at times I mean he does it with normal games, see CoD4 vs CoD W@W and somehow he said CoD4 didn't control as well as W@W despite the two games having the SAME controls.  He either had rose colored glasses for W@W or remembering a very different game than everyone else lol.
