Sounds like good news.

I skipped de Blob first time around, though...

You shouldn't have. Its probably the only third party title deserving of sitting next to Mario on the shelf.

This news makes me happy happy joy joy. Glad to hear the Melbourne devs are still employeed, despite all that THQ bullshit after they dropped the ball on Deadly Creatures.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

aside from the humping issue, it was a great game. I'm really hoping the sequel will use M+. If instead of just shaking the wiimote down to jump, you could actually direct de blob's jumps in any direction with the M+, that would really open up the platforming possibilities.

yeah i remember. it was so frustrating

btw: best typo ever :p

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Freudian slip in visual form. Sorry bout that.

Still, this announcement is pretty humptastic. The Wii has really had a great little slate of news lately.

Last Story, NBA Jam, Monado is actualy Exenoblade (I don't know what that means but it made some people happy), Gladiator A.D. resurfaces (ok not sure how great that is), De Blob 2, Nintendo release date announcements. It's a pretty happy Wii time right now, which was nice because for a while there was a bit of a dearth of news.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Awesome. I loved the first game. It is easily my favorite 3D platformer other than Mario. The only downside to this announcement is that I have a ton of other games to buy.

But I thought the Internet already declared it bombed and should not warrant a sequel?

And try not to release it on Dec26...

They most likely mean fiscal years 2011 for De Blob (which could mean this years) and not 2012. It doesn't make any sense to only announce games that are going to be released in 2012 and not announce any game for their next fiscal years during an investor conference call. Can't be sure since I can't be bothered to find it in the hour recording but it's not like it's going to be the first time some gaming blog is wrong about something.

It's coming out before this xmas.

THQ will launch de Blob 2 definitely in the same time frame as its predecessor. I'm so glad they reaffirmed the development of de Blob 2, I've already thought they probably dropped it.

de Blob is a great and innovative title with such a big potential. I'm sure THQ have learned from the flaws of the first one. I'm really excited seeing some footages or something :)!

I forgot to mention my hopes concerning John Guscott, who created an extraordinary soundtrack (one of my most beloved soundtracks in my gaming history - 18 years!). He should do it again, yes! If you don't know what I am talking about here's a link of my favorite sample:

Last time on the way to my university I almost couldn't resist to dance ;).

I liked De Blob but I hated that you couldn't save at any point. I don't play for long periods and ended up having to do a level, run out of time before I got to the save, redo the same level again, and repeat until I sold it.

If they fix that I'll gladly buy the sequel.
