Forums - Sales Discussion - Darksiders: selling under expectations and being discontinued?

Too bad. I hear the game was good.

I dont believe 2 weeks of data is enough to come to this conclusion. I call fake.

Yeah, Industry Gamers is making shit up, that's definitely what's happening. "Signal Hill Capital" probably doesn't exist.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

For a new IP released after christmas it sold well. It will also easily outsell Red Faction Guerrilla.

The game really has no excuse to be underperforming. It could be saturation, but usually PS360 owners gobble this stuff up. Maybe it is because THQ was involved? It could be a brandname thing.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

If Darksiders sales really are underperforming, than either VGC tracking is off-target or somebody at THQ really screwed the pooch on this one.

Are retailers really discounting the game already?

Discounted, sorry it was a typo on the title.

Lol at the damage control
It's obvious the hd twins can't sell core games
I hope thq will come to their senses and release the next darksiders on wii

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Well THQ shipped 1.2 million copies worldwide.

February 3, 2010 - During the company's fiscal third quarter update this afternoon, THQ revealed its action-adventure title from Vigil Games has shipped 1.2 million copies worldwide in its first four weeks.

The franchise has officially been added to THQ's portfolio of brand titles, which includes Drawn to Life, Red Faction, and Saints Row. Perhaps this means a sequel is all but confirmed at this point.

The publisher also stated it saw profitable growth during its third quarter, with net sales of $356.7 million, and expects to stay on track through the rest of its fiscal year.

"We are pleased to report solid profitability in the third quarter and we are on track to achieve all of our fiscal 2010 financial targets that we announced at the beginning of the fiscal year," said THQ President and CEO Brian Farrell. "This marks a significant turnaround for THQ in just one year and underscores the success of our focused strategy and reduced cost structure."

"In addition to meeting our financial targets, we launched two new franchises, UFC and Darksiders, and significantly strengthened our balance sheet. We also secured new long-term license agreements and continued to migrate our brands to digital platforms in order to drive THQ's growth over the next several years."

Now we need to wait for NPD to see retail sales and then hope for a new sequel or not.

I've checked some online stores in England, the US and Germany and well they are either offering the game for the full price or have a 25% discount although I'd say that is nothing unusual.

I guess the retail stores are more relevant here and I can assure you (without checking) that German stores have it at full price.
