BoneyBoy is obsessed with Sony.

Can't wait for Mass Effect 2 on PS3

As a shareholder of their stock, I follow Sony news.  I am not obsessed with anything.  I hope Mass Effect does come to the ps3 cuz everyone should experience the best game of this generation, but I doubt it will.

Back on topic....sony definilely has a lot of problems at the moment.  I hope Stringer can turn things around.  He is a proven, successful businessman but the "sony culture environment" is difficult to change

as a share holder shouldn't your post be alitle more concernig, nearly all of your post are seeming wishing they will fail, pure condeming,  the Mass Effect 2 just proves your fanboyism, yeah there nothing sony can do to top mass effect  -_-.

So just because I own stock in a company means I can't criticize them??  That is unusual logic.

I own Microsoft stock, and I criticize them all the time especially for their stupid aquisition of Danger and their failing, money wasting windows mobile department, and their xbox division's slow success.

I think even the most ardent sony supporter would be upset by the 5-6 billion dollars in losses the ps3 cost the company.  I guess I'm not the only one since analysts that get paid big money seem to agree with me.

Why couldn't you have used the Wall Street Journal article title instead of the sensationalist articles title? Its all based off the WSJ piece anyway.

In any case based on the articles premise, they have nowhere left to 'fail' because they don't have market leadership in any field. So really, the thread should have been titled 'where will Sony win next?' since thats the only possible outcome.

As for the article, its pretty well written (WSJ). What bothers me most here is it shows that even in areas where they have been focusing, such as 3D, they are still being outmanouvered by their competition. Like for instance the 3D space by Panasonic who showed off a 100 inch 3D TV and used a movie made with Sony 3D cameras for their own marketing! As for consoles, Microsoft is getting far more discussion and talk of their interface than the Arc, even by people with an evidant Sony bias! Jack be nimble, Jack be quick, Jack sure as hell aint Sony.

@Twistedpixel - The "Where Will Sony Fail Next" article title got my attention. It wasn't until after I posted this that I realized the original source was the Wall Street Journal....or else I would have reworded the title.

I agree with everything you wrote. Sony is not dead, or dying, but they need to make a move quick (jack style). Sony can still be successful, but they may never be the dominating, industry leading giant they once were.

critizing is one thing, you condem,, it's totally different

When will threads fail next?
Oh, it already happened... Seriously, Sony is doing great with the PS3, lately, and it still has a lot more to do. There's no need to be that dramatic.

Apple was in the same boat probably worse before Jobs returned and then proceeded to own the world with his ipod and iphones

He owned the world with his marketing. The products success were just a result of it. He built a culture not a product.

Maybe you can call them 'Doomasses'? I mean it combines doom with dumbass pretty well. Hell I think it would be a pretty cool way to describe the Microsoft corportation as well.

Sony and Microsoft are in pretty pickels if you consider their potential 10/20 year futures against the status quo. To do nothing would spell doom for them in their core industries and to implement ineffective strategy may be bad as well. Beyond that they have a problem in that they can still be side-swiped by companies/events outside of their control even if they implement well.

Microsoft doesn't have to partner with any particular company inside its core industry and outside, they have no allegiences so they can partner with any/everyone. Sony however is a bit player in everything for their core markets, the issue with that is they have an automatic conflict of interest in attempting to partner with anyone else inside those same industries. So for example Microsoft can partner with everyone except for Sony in the TV industry potentially with their Live content, Sony can only partner with Sony.
