Fair enough, no other console was mentioned but the way the article was written a visitor from Mars could be led to believe it is a close fight between the consoles.

Nonsense analysis imo

Apparently Super Mario is no longer hardcore, and no one wants to think about things that aren't hardcore that generate a lot of money.  So, ignore Super Mario, and focus on the FPS of the month...

I am a huge 360 fan but are you seeing what I am. Since the PS3 slim has come out it has been on a roll, beating 360 in America which is scary, other and of course Japan. Right know the PS3 is poised for the best 2010 not MS. Now I think 360 this year has a strong line up of games and natal could be a hit so there is hope. If I was a betting man I would say this is FINALLY the year of the PS3.

2009 was already the year of the PS3. It blew away the competition with exclusive games.

The writer knows a lot of facts and things but your reasoning really isn't there.  How would Moore's law give the 360 an advantage when this applies to all 3 consoles?  Why would something like a hard drive be that much of a benefit?  Really, anybody can make a hard drive, and if MS really wanted to give its fans some value, it would have a virtual hard drive on xbl for no additional cost.  But, ..... they're going to make gamers shell out $75 for another hard drive.  Pathetic.

NSMB Wii sold faster on a single platform.

Modern Warfare 2 sold 10 million units in 2 weeks across all platforms.

One, the 360 has done really well for MS, and has been a big jump from Xbox and they are profitable now (not overall yet I suspect but no doubt looking good on overall expectations) so it's been a very good success and will continue to be so

Two, a console with lower specs has been happily dominating both the 360 and the PS3 and not only has sold more HW and can sell more SW but took the lead despite 360 having a one year lead and PS3 having arguably the strongest brand globally and largest potential fanbase

Three, the 360 is down a little YOY and is the oldest of the current gen consoles, and should therefore be the first to cross its peak and start to tail of while the others continue to grow.

Four, Natal does look interesting, but it's risky, and launching when the console is essentially the least popular outside the US and only second most popular in the US plus already well into it's lifetime. It could be a big hit but right now looks far from a sure thing, particularly given it seems more aligned to the Wii audience than the current 360 audience

I therefore call caution on the idea of some abrupt 360 domination, sure in the knowledge any sensible 360 owner (such as slowmo above) will be likewise cautious about such hype.

Better to under promise and overachieve than over promise and under deliver - just ask Sony.

And this smells of an attempt to over promise to me.
