If a Microsoft exec quoted those figures, I'd definitely post it. The shitstorm would be AMAZING.

God no, please don't let that happen. If you are to believe some users on this site, that would mean we lose about 75% of the community.
Hey, that's a joke!! No punces to the face, ok...
OT:
I don't get it, how can the gap all of a sudden be 8 million? Something's not right here...
Do we have the shipped numbers in the last quarter from MS and Sony yet?

I haven't looked at the numbers, but is it possible that they are comparing last quarter for sony with the current numbers from microsoft therefore giving Microsoft a 3-month advantage?

No. The numbers don't add up, and Sony would never do such a thing.

I think the numbers were 27 million-ish one quarter ago. Reporting sold to consumers numbers don't make sense either.

I would prefer if People don't just call him "Sony", i am sure he has a last name! A little respect for a living, breathing Person here!
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

The end September ship totals was 33.5 360 and 27.0 PS3.
We know for a fact the end Dec 360 total stood at 38.7, because they shipped 5.2. That's where the 39 comes from for 360 (rounded off or a couple weeks into Jan figures), we know that.
For Sony to only be at 31 would be a shipment of 4.0 for the December quarter, staggeringly bad and would mean Sony must have vastly overshipped before.
We know from NPD PS3 sold about the same as 360 in the USA for the Dec q, we know PS3 at the least likely sold somewhat more in Europe, and then there is Japan. So basically, we all but know PS3 outsold 360 in Oct/Nov/Dec, significantly.
So again, Dille is misinformed, or, Sony really really had an overstock of PS3's in the channel going into Oct.

Where does the 5.2 mill number for X360 come from, the latest MS quarterly report?
