Forums - Sony Discussion - Best FPS of 2010 MAG

I played the MAG beta and if you read the begging intro of the game it states that the graphics and quality has been shrunk to download size. So You can't judge a game in Beta for graphics especially if they state that these arn't the graphics they will use in the real game. So reviewing graphics is taken out because the graphics were reduced so you could download the game and it won't be 10-20gb big. Now that thats out of the way lets talk about Gameplay, Amazing. Same Socom feel with a new and Revised interface and system. Alot of people say their will be 256 which everyone will camp and suck. First of all if you camp its most likely you'll be no where near your leaders to get HP boosts and attack boosts. So if someone comes alone that is attacking with a group your screwed because they will have those bonuses. Leader bonuses are great it keeps your team together and strong. Keeps everyone from straying from the objective unless told to or a complete noob which everyone was once. Alot of people in the beta going off and doing their own thing because they are just learning and shouldn't be judged for doing that. Their is no tutorial or campaign in the beta to teach them but once they know FOLLOW your object which is a big icon on your screen which is hard to miss. Their is a great selection of weapons and unique skills for your character battle feel very realistic when you can't actually by yourself clear out entire teams and if you do your are a MAG god(Lol) or a hacker. Lots of character customization just in the beta alone. It was very much worth the download and i will be picking this game up first day.

Alot of hate will be towards this game because Zipper has left the Socom series to make this so anyone that loved socom will dislike this game because of that so alot of reviewers will be tainted. People shouldn't take Reviewers sites so serious because the websites most likely are owned by a company which only goal is profit not to save you money from buying a crappy game. The best thing you can do is Rent spend the extra $5 to rent it or barrow it from a friend. Reviewers said "Wii is a gimmick and a fad" but look 3 years from now still outselling all home consoles.

Anyway my Review on the beta is:

Gameplay: Perfect (Easy to pick-up and play)

Online: Perfect ( It only took me 4-7 minutes faster than most games on my 360 to join a 256 player game)

Graphics: N/A for reason stated at beginning

Beta Overall Review: 9/10

It misses a perfect only because they beta seemed to short to me and i'm still wanting to fill my MAG cravings of 256 player battles. I believe this game will be the best FPS this year.

I think it is the best FPS so far this year

I would like to believe that too, but Halo: Reach and a possible but doubtful Killzone 3 release are definitely contenders for best FPS of this year. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is also coming out soon, which is looking VERY good so far. I mean, the year just started.

I remember last year in February, people went on about how Killzone 2 was the best FPS of the year, then Modern Warfare 2 came out, and pretty much swiped up every award Killzone 2 was also nominated for.

Odd. Future. Wolf. Gang. Kill. Em. All. OFWGKTA Don't give a fuck!

Fuck Steve Harvey. FREE EARL!

Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be the GREATEST game EVER made!!!

I'd take a bullet for Square-Enix!

I can agree to that without having played it.

So far just reading what little I've read about it, it doesn't look like a bad game and I'm sure it will be awesome for 2-3 months while people are playing it, but as soon as the next big game or next big shooter releases all signs point to MAG being forgotten.

-edit-

And really, the 256 thing isn't that huge of a deal.  Again, only going from what I've heard from people, it's 256 people in the same map, but you will never see 255 or even 128 other people.  You're likely to only see a few other squads so that's only really, what, 32 people?

Don't get me wrong, the scale of the battles sounds cool and kudos to them for organizing it, I just don't see anything about that game that tells me people will even remember it ever released this time next year.

@iLLmaticV3

Yah, But I don't think they will rush Killzone 3 well i hope they don't i expect perfection from that game. My Hope for halo died at halo ODST truthfully.

What game takes more than 4 - 7 minutes to get into?

I believe that with todays new gameplay trailer Battlefield Bad Company 2 will completely outshine MAG.

Luckily MAG has it's 256 player concept which should gain it's own niche.

I never even purchased ODST, that game looked like garbage from the start to me, wasn't worth even considering a purchase. Its more like an expansion that costs you $60. I'm sure Halo: Reach won't dissapoint since its actually a full fledged Halo game that they actually put a lot of time into and even made a new engine for, that actually looks pretty impressive.

I have played it, and it isn't really that special. I am very happy sticking with MW 2 for my online multiplayer
