Huh isnt the conventional wisdom is Nintendo went after the great untapped mass market and hit it.
Back to the topic. The biggest flaw in many arguments in this thread is the thought that believes once next gen starts, and the assumption is that MS will start the next gen, is that the 360 sales will stop and the PS3 sales will not be affected and the PS3 will simply catchup that last year.
This appears to believe that the 9 million lead will still stand and the PS3 will make up that with a year of selling 9 million to 0. The truth of the matter is that once the next gen starts the PS3 technology advantage will be over. People purchasing the so called most advanced console will look elsewhere. People looking for the cheapest console with the overall best library will look the the 360. The PS3 will be somewhere in the middle. It will have some outstanding 1st party titles, a smaller library and a price probably still $100 more than the 360. That picture is a console that will probably sell less than the 360 once next gen starts.
