You missed a major point in your analysis. The mass market really don't care about graphics. People won't buy a PS3 because ''OMG KZ2 looks a little bit better than Halo3!!!!!!!''.
Plus, if MS or Nintendo launch a new console it is sure that it will be A LOT different than their previous system in a completely different league than the PS3.
