Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you intend to buy Punch-Out!!?

No, because I've bought too many bad "tide-over until the next big Nintendo one" or "Support good games on Wii" titles and then had them fail. I was disappointed with all of the following Wii purchases:

- Zack and Wiki
- Wii Fit
- Wii Music
- Metroid Prime 3
- Mario & Sonic
- Super Paper Mario

Please don't criticse me for buying games that I didn't want; with all of the above I honestly believed they would be worth playing because of the history of the dev (IS and Retro), the glowing reviews (Z&W and M&S), or that Miyamoto designed them (Wii Fit/Music).

So until Nintendo comes out with just one quality Wii title of the following series: Paper Mario, 2D Metroid, 3D Metroid, Mario, Zelda, Star Fox, Kirby, Pokemon, Pikmin, F-Zero, Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Luigi's Mansion; I won't be buying another game. And to ask for just one out of all of those series doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

All those games are new or different than the previous franchise and they all use the motion control repetively. That might have affected the experience for someone who doesn't like motion control. Super Mario Galaxy and Brawl did not use motion control at all or very little or vigorously. If motion control does affect a game's value, one can look at Nintendo's next line-up and recent ones and conclude that the Wii might not fit that person's taste. So if you are that person, I say, give up hope on that  3rd game since motion plus control represents the final decision Nintendo plans to do with future Wii games.

EDIT: I meant motion plus.

If I had the Wii, this game would be on my top list. I know for sure that my friend is buying this.

No.

My eyes is on a different Boxing game coming out late June. It has Mike Tyson!!

Is like a football game with Michael Vick, or a baseball game with Barry "pumped by roids" Bonds.

Yes, I am afraid of that. But my problem in MP3 and SPM (the two games most relevant to this) wasn't really the motion control but the huge change in gameplay (Metroid made more linear and FPS-like; Paper Mario removing the RPG and exploration elements to a large extent). However, I liked Kirby Power Paintbrush over previous Kirby games due to the change in gameplay and controls for the touchscreen.

Is their a choice? yah

I mostly play RTS and Moba style games now adays as well as ALOT of benchmarking. I do play other games however such as the witcher 3 and Crysis 3, and recently Ashes of the Singularity. I love gaming on the cutting edge and refuse to accept any compromises. Proud member of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race. Long Live SHIO!!!!

My respone to this is that Super Mario Galaxy was also different, too, but I do see the differences between Galaxy and those two games. I think the game that will break or make it for you would be the future Wii Zelda game since Eji(sp?) it will be a new style or setting than the old Zelda games. I'm pretty sure it will have motion plus so the controls will be more accurate and should be better used than Twilight Princess, and if many fans like this game, but if it follows the formula change like Corruption, (I'm not counting Paper Mario since this game was more of a spin-off or experiment. I'm pretty sure intelligent system would  make the next game like the original two again.) you might not see any quality Nintendo games you like for the Wii for quite a while.
