Forums - Sony Discussion - Was Killzone for the PS2 a good game or bad?

I own a PS3 and Killzone was BAD bad b a d BAAD

As far as FPS, Killzone is really mediocre at best. It's average - nothing makes it stand out. I would rather recommend Kill.switch over it by a mile. And yeah, I've played both. Halo was much better, dang, even Project Snowblind gave KZ a run for its money.

If you must buy it, pay no more than $7.50 for it. BLACK is a better FPS as well.

never hear anything good about the one for the ps2. is the psp one okay?

Yeh, it's a really good game

@Kyros

I know now not to buy it!! LOL!! ROFL!!!

@NJ5

Yea I understand bro, it would piss me off to. I actally played the demo of Killzone a long time ago. And it was pissing me off how I would shoot at the enemies and I would go through a whole clip just to kill one enemy!!

That was annoying and the story was really not understanding at all when I played the demo.

I then rented it with my cousin DMeisterJ when the game released and it was still plagued by the same problems I experienced in the demo.

So its well confirmed to me that its not worth it and I should wait till the sequel on the PS3.

I'm definitely going to be tuning to IGN for their review on the game though.

The PSP version titled Killzone: Liberation is awesome and worth owning!!

But madskillz I know not to pick that game up. I know Black is worth owning. I'm expecting to buy Black anyway it was on my list of games to buy for the PS2/Xbox.

Black got a 8.7 over at IGN. So its worth the play time and admission.

Its not great but its decent and its worth a try atleast. Then you judge it.

The first Killzone really wasn't that good. I played it at a LAN party once and I was not impressed at all.

I like Liberation on the PSP, so I'm gonna borrow Killzone PS2 in a few days to check it out. I played the beta years ago (online), I remember I really liked it.

Yeah, don't get it. It was okay at the time, but now...not so much.

At the time, the game was just marred by a plethora of technical issues. The LOD system was buggy as hell, resulting in loads of texture pop-in, and the framerate probably average around 15-20 fps, making things pretty hard to play at time. The AI was buggy as well, resulting in enemies completely ignoring you some of the time. The repetitive sound FX in the game didn't help either.

The game had a great premise, but was held back by the above issues. The sequel looks like it's getting enough time and love to rectify those issues, however, plus it's improvements to the rest of the game in many ways.

Killzone 2 for PS2 was OKAY. It wasn't horrible but it was meh... If it wasn't for the tech issues (getting stuck in the enviornment, TERRIBLE ENEMY AI at times) it would've been cool. Graphics were good and the future war zone setting was nice.

One thing that I liked about the game was the fact you could play it through with 4 different characters and it would be different in how the levels played.

If you can get it on the cheap try it out. I GameFly'd it awhile back and it was mos def worth of a GameFly rental.

The PSP game is far superior to the the console version, it continues the story, is pretty much a top down shooter and is AWESOME. You only get to play as one character but that game is definitly worth the price of admission.
