Tonight's (May 15, 2008) edition of Xplay showed worldwide console sales numbers in their story about the Microsoft PR sales statement.

The source for the numbers -- VGChartz.

(Of course, the numbers appear to have been taken prior to Japan's numbers being added as the Nintedo number is a bit lower than what is currently on the site

For those of you not in the USA or who don't have digital cable, Xplay is a daily TV show about video games and the only regularly-scheduled video game TV show airing in the USA.

Serioulsy, NPD dropped the ball this month. Like what ioi said: how did they come up with those numbers?! they are massively different from the early sales data, anacdotal evidence and the VGC survey results (and plain logic).

VGC is in for a win, enough people will contemplate NPD failure to start seeing VGC as the credible alternative, giving more detailed information and on a more regular basis with a similar level of accuracy. And for FREE.
