I hope it's good but that's a terrible trailer, absolutely zero actual gameplay.

Its a concept trailer. I doubt there is even a "game" at this point. More establish feel through presentation and music

I know what the intent was, but to me a video game trailer without gameplay is pointless. If I don't know how it actually plays, then I don't know whether to give a shit.

Bullshit. It is entirely possible to give a shit about announcement without an actually gameplay trailer. Here are some ways

1. The Director

2. The Developer

3. Their past works.

The fact that you participate on this site is enough. How many threads have we had over the years about unannounced or leaked games that you participate in/have been excited for before you even seen the game?

I don't tend to get that excited about games in a tangible sense without knowing what they're going to actually be like.

In this case for instance, I liked some of Vanillaware's games, but others I found boring, so I'll need to see more to decide which camp this looks likely to fall into.

Some characters walking from right to left for a minute isn't doing it for me, that's all.

Nice. Will be looking forward to future news about this game.

Challenge to Japanese devs with RPGs these days. An english name that does not sound randomized. Challenge level, impossible.

I was interested in the Wild Arms successor. Then it was cancelled. I backed Mighty No 9 based on a reputation of the man behind it. I was horribly let down. So I am with you. I need to see gameplay. A respected name is nice and all but been more examples that I named of well known name and what ends up is a wet fart or nothing at all. Rare occasion it pans out well.  Shenmue III happened at least but it sucked. Bloodstained was good tho. It's so mixed,I need to see gameplay and I need some assurance it will come out. I don't do KS stuff anymore.

Side note. Remember when FFXVI hyped up a DMC combat director was working on it? Game comes out and the combat is all flash but the depth of a rain puddle. Promises are easy. Results are not.
