Forums - Gaming - The iOS-port of "Control" is a steal compared to other recent ports from PC/consoles

Rarely iPhones and iPads get some impressive ports from PC/console hits.

But in most cases those ports are quite expensive, especially if they hide the costs for the full experience (including DLCs) behind "in-app purchases".

Remedy's "Control: Ultimate Edition" (first release in 2019) was released for iOS devices for just $4.99 / €5.99 without any additional costs for DLCs.

According to Digital foundry it is also the graphically most impressive game for iOS devices yet:

Here I tried to compare the costs for the "full experiences" of other good ports from PC/consoles to iOS of the last years.

  • the iOS version of Resident Evil 7 Biohazard (first release in 2017) costs €40 for the full experience, €20 for the base game
  • the iOS version of Resident Evil 2 Remake (first release in 2019) costs €45 for the full experience, €40 for the base game
  • the iOS version of Resident Evil 3 Remake (first release in 2020) costs €35 for the full experience, €30 for the base game
  • the iOS version of Resident Evil 8 Village (first release in 2021) costs €68 for the full experience, €40 for the base game
  • the iOS version of Resident Evil 4 Remake (first release in 2024) costs €124 for the full experience, €70 for the base game

  • the iOS version of Death Stranding (first release in 2019) costs €40 for the full experience
  • the iOS version of Assassin's Creed Mirage (first release in 2023) costs €124 for the full experience, €30 for the base game
  • the iOS version of Alien: Isolation (first release in 2014) costs €12.49 for the full experience
  • the iOS version of Hitman: World of Assasination (first release in 2023, Hitman 1 content in 2016) costs €208 for the full experience (maybe less, perhaps the "Hitman WOA Full Game"-DLC for €70 already contains some of the other DLCs... the WOA pricing is a mess on all platforms)

Around the Network

While Phone gaming is not my thing, it is nice that this exists for those who do care. RT on a phone is especially cool.

Given its already up and running on mobile tech, I'm hoping it makes the jump to Switch 2 soon, I'd definitely pick it up there.
