"This Could Be Interesting" - Intel To Unveil Panther Lake Handhelds With Arc G3 Graphics At Computex In June | Digital Foundry

Interesting video.  Intel's Panther Lake at 35w is keeping pace with the xbox series s.  The comparison is interesting, because it uses the same upscaler, versus the S2 which has a massive advantage of DLSS.  Crazy to me how fast small chipsets are closing the gap.  I still think the series s is too weak, but the idea of form factor with Panther Lake and Strix is interesting.  My computer is about the size of two ps5 units.

The technology to get this kind of power in a handheld form factor is cool, especially as I can still remember when 8-bit monochrome was the standard, only thing is, with today's economic turmoil, the price is probably gonna be crazy high.

Price will be high, but lower than 6000 series.  But yeah, I underestimated mobile chip development.  The speed of development is insane.  The Halo Strix can be a tiny computer that produces Series S+ visuals, add in FSR improving leaps/bounds, you have something that can match-ish ps5, potentially..  that fits in the palm of my hand (a bit of exaggeration).

The problem is going to be the pricing... A year or so ago was the best time to buy. Could get Legion Go S Z1E or the original ROG Ally Z1E super cheap.

Now the Legion Go S and 2 have increased in price to ludicrous levels. The steam deck is OOS because valve can't get components and no doubt the ROG Xbox Ally is about to get a huge price increase.

It's a shame that just as intel is starting to bring some competition to the space after AMD dropped the ball with the lackluster Z2E the prices are going to make them so unattractive lol.

I was very excited for the intel handhelds this year, it's impressive tech.

Will be interesting to see what the PS handheld brings to the table in terms of power to performance because it has a chance to have a big advantage to these $1k+ handhelds.

PC handhelds are not interesting whatsoever, sorry the pricing is ridiculous.

I am more curious about form factor than handheld.  My computer is 1000 watts and spits out 40-45 C air, which heats up a room.  I think this has desktop implications.

I had a GTX 480 SLI rig once, lol. I probably could of fried eggs and bacon.
