Forums - Gaming - Google's TurboQuant, a new AI algorithm that reduces memory usage by 6x and increases speeds by 8x

This is the right way to address the ram issues, already starting to bring down the prices. The real question is will Sony reduce the price of the PS5 is ram drastically drops world wide?

I don't think this price increase is even factoring in the ram at this time, I'm sure they have that negotiated for at least a year. This is the increase from tariffs, inflation, wars, that they have been eating.

No, the right way to address RAM and memory prices is TO STOP FURTHERING AI DEVELOPMENT.

Nah, hard disagree.  Prices are because of AI and have been going up for a long time now, long before wars and even before tariffs.  AI is driving costs more than the other stuff, especially globally.

It looks like Scam Altman has over promised with his fictitious buy orders and now some of these memory companies will have to cater to consumers once again.
