Forums - Nintendo - Several informations from Games Freak projects (mainly Pokemon) were leaked today

There is a lot of information, so I will try to summarize some of them and put it below.

All Game Freak Pokemon projects have leaked through 2030:

- Codename Gaia (Gen 10) releasing in 2026
- Codename Ringo (Legends 3: Galar) releasing in 2027 or later
- Codename Seed (Multi-previous region game) releasing in 2028 or later
- Gen 11 in 2030.

About Beast of Reincarnation: Game Freak is working on Beast of Reincarnation which isn't announced for Switch 2 (yet), but if the Teraleak has made anything clear, Pokemon is still very much at the core of the studio

They want to do new things, but they also want the security of working for Pokemon Company.

New Engine: The new Engine is called 'Pokemon Engine X' and will be used on Pokemon Wind & Wave (Gen 10). Pokemon Wind & Wave will be a Switch 2 Exclusive and They plan to release the game in 2026. Here's a Tech Demo Video, and a first look at Pokemon Gen 10 game (The final game might not look anything like this).

More informations about Pokemon Gen 10:

- Name: Pokémon Wind and Pokémon Waves
- Theme: Infinity
- Director: Shigeru Ohmori
- Setting inspiration: Southeast Asia
- Open world with MMO elements
- Island exploration and Underwater exploration
- Like BOTW, you can go to the final boss early
- Seed Pokémon given at the start
- The evolution for the Seed Pokémon will be procedurally generated so it will be slightly different for every player
- 18 challenges, one for each type. Mix of Gyms and Boss Pokemon

Informations about Pokemon Legends 3:

Pokemon Legends 3 is tentatively set for the Galar region past (1000 years before the current Galar).

The game is inspired by Xenoblade Chronicles X, so maybe Monolith helped Games Freak?

And to think that there were people thinking that Gen 10 would be cross-platform...

Gen 10 arriving next year as a Switch 2 exclusive is good news for the platform, and should give its sales a strong boost.

Hopefully with a new engine it doesn't look as graphically crap as Gamefreak's Switch 1 games.

Wow this sounds incredible! Really hoping Pokémon Company can pull it off... they don't have a great track record during the Switch gen. They'll have had four years to work on this title, longer than any other mainline entry. I'll stay optimistic. An open world Pokémon filled with redesigns and an entirely new engine sounds extremely promising.

I'm not buying a new Poke'mon game until they get above 87% on Opencritic/Metacritic. My backlog of Poke'mon games is infinitely better than the modern stuff and I've yet to play it all. Fingers crossed that GF somehow get help from Nintendo proper and makes a good Poke'mon game for the first time in over a decade.

Good, ZA looks absolute dog shit.

A brand new engine was desperately needed. Hopefully it's well optimised and we don't have to pay for actually decent graphics with shocking performance. Game Freak's technical ability has been extremely lacking recently but this new engine gives them a fresh shot if proving themselves.

Wind/Waves looks very interesting. Not mentioned in OP but I saw the leak mention procedural generation. With the theme of infinity and exploration I'm thinking they'll have randomly generated islands you can visit.

I think this is just new information from the previous hack? The one that said Z-A was coming in 2024 and had footage of rideable Pokémon. So obviously the further out the game the greater chance things have changed by then.

With that image saying Z-A (ikaku) was late 2024, chances are some of the other games will also be delayed.

The leaked budgets for these games is a joke though.

$13m for Pokemon Legends Z-A
$20m for Pokemon Wind/Waves

No wonder Z-A looks like crap. You have games that will gross $1 Billion and you're spending only $13m developing them... unreal.

Don't get me wrong, low budgets is an admirable thing, if the game doesn't suffer for it, which Pokemon clearly has the whole Switch generation.

They will spend a lot with Marketing (maybe something like $100-200m), but they will make money with Pokemon Go, Cards, etc... so they dont have excuse.

Yeah I imagine marketing budget is up there, highest modern game marketing budget I can find is Cyberpunk which spent $142 Million.

It is wild how little they are spending on development. Lords of the Fallen for example, a game I'm not even sure I would call AAA, spent $42 million on development. Over triple Pokemon Legends Z-A.

There are many games from over 2 decades ago that had MUCH more money put into their creation than Pokemon, one of the biggest franchises in the world.

Pokemon is in the top 5% of AAA game sales and probably in the bottom 5% of AAA development budgets.
