Forums - Website Topics - Why am I receiving notifications about games being tagged on articles?

Tagged games:

I'm surely not the only one getting these, right?

This is very annoying, it reminds me from prediction league notifications, which is only bad.

I would really appreaciate not getting those unless you are tagging LoD, then you can notify the shit out of me, even send me private messages if you are into it.

Is it related to those games being "tracked" into my games page here? I've never seen any purpose into it so it might be it...

But please let me know so this can stop.

You are 100% correct - in fact, there's an entire post about it, right here in this very forum: https://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread/242273/new-tracking-features-part-1/

...even more of a fact, it mentions the exact wording "new tracking features" right in the title!! LOL!!!!

So yes, those notifications are new and that's what is driving them (and you've now just reminded me to add a "tracked games" option, to the list of notifications you can disable from within your preferences - I'll put that on my 'to do' list). I'm glad to see it works, though I'm not glad to see it repeated five times in your notification list like that! Did they all appear like that at the same time? Or, did you receive five distinct notifications over time???

Thank you.

When I logged in I saw all 5 of them there, so I think it might have been all at the same time.

1. In your preferences, there was already a setting to enable/disable Tracked Game notifications - it wasn't actually being checked before, but it is now. So, if you want to continue tracking games but do NOT want the notifications, just go to your preferences and uncheck the "GameDB: Tracked Game Update" option under the "Receive Notifications" section:

2. I spoke with Machina about that article - he apparently did publish it, make some changes, re-publish it, etc. Each time he published it, another notification was flagged - I will look into a way to stop that from happening in the future.

Thanks, I've choosen to untrack games instead.

Except for LoD, that is.

Hmmm....    ...so - if I'm understanding this reply, despite your initial post calling the notifications "annoying" and demanding that they stop, you actually like the feature - so long as you only receive notifications about LoG?

TalonMan +1.

It is a nice feature to have. Only thing is some people might be tracking hundreds of games, so will be getting notifications nearly everyday with the amount of stuff we post. But having the option to turn it off is good to have. It is nice to give people the option.
