Forums - General Discussion - Ever get a scam call?

The weirdest one I got was from something called "Scotshia Bank" - it was some English speaking robot. I think they were trying to say Scotland Bank and that they were taking me to Federal Court if I didn't contact them on some weird foreign number. Kind of funny, but scammers need to try harder. Otherwise, most I get are in Mandarin or Cantonese, I don't understand them.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

They don't need to try harder cause enough people fall for it sadly, If you don't they just move to the next person.

Chinese one is for Chinese foreign nationals.  It is telling them that they are from Chinese embassy and some kind of mix up.  It is basically trying to scare them that they might get deported back to China unless money is paid. They usually spoof the number of Chinese embassies from that country and I assume leave a different number to call back.

I've gotten at least two or three messages in Mandarin probably related to this scam.  I did read about it in article before ever getting the voicemails.  I believe a rich Chinese old woman in New York gave away 100k or more when she fell for the scam.

My sister in law got one where she played along with the guy. Then somewhere along the way, he figured out she was messing with him and started cursing at her--BUT she started talking sexy to him and pretended to have phone sex and the guy loved it. Then he started calling trying to meet her. It was insane!

I have the audio somewhere. She has a "call recorder app"and she sent it to my wife via Facebook and my wife sent it to me. It was the craziest most hilarious thing ever and she's so good at fucking with these scammers that if she wanted to, I'm sure she could go viral.

You gotta share those some time. Sounds like fun.

In the meantime, here's a funny video of a scam baiter wasting a scammer's time.
