About

Capcom’s classic samurai adventure Onimusha: Warlords comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. Originally released in 2001 for PlayStation 2, Onimusha: Warlords blended thrilling action with a cinematic story to sell over 2 million copies worldwide. Capcom brings the original Onimusha: Warlords to players now with updated features such as high-definition graphics, widescreen display options, analog stick support, a new soundtrack and an Easy Mode available right from the start.

Onimusha: Warlords follows the battle-filled journey of samurai Samanosuke Akechi and ninja Kaede on a quest to save Princess Yuki from a legion of mysterious demons who have invaded Inabayama Castle. As the two travel throughout the castle, they unravel a malevolent plot by those who would serve the evil lord Nobunaga Oda. Using sword-based combat, a magical Oni Gauntlet and puzzle solving, players need to call on both brawn and creativity to defeat the demonic foes.

Key Features

High-Definition Graphics – Characters, background graphics, and cut scenes have been given a high-definition update to enhance the visibility on players’ quest to save the princess.

Widescreen Support, New Display Options – Both the original game’s display (4:3) and more standard widescreen display (16:9) are supported. Display settings can be changed between 4:3 and 16:9 at any time in-game. Specific screens, including parts of the menu screen, are fixed at either 16:9 or 4:3. A screen scroll feature in the widescreen mode adapts to players’ movements to show areas that otherwise aren’t fully visible.

Easy Mode Available From Start – Easy Mode is unlocked for players from the start of gameplay, which wasn’t available in the original game. This addition makes it easier for both newcomers and those who haven’t played Onimusha: Warlords for a while to dive into this world right away

Analog Stick Support – In addition to the controls from the original, this new release allows players to move using analog sticks. This added feature makes it easier to move instinctively and change directions quickly.

New Soundtrack – A brand new soundtrack and voices have been recorded to accompany the newest release of Onimusha: Warlords.

heh, thought a new game had been announced when I saw the title. Only a port though.

Although I've never actually played an Onimusha game before so I'm still fairly interested.

Bet Shiken that COD would outsell Battlefield in 2018. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=8749702

The first game I've played on PS2 has come back !

... but it's digital only ?! Yeah, I'm passing.

Imo they should have atleast remade the visuals from the ground up like Crash, Spyro and SotC, looks like Capcom doesn't have much confidence in the selling power of the IP. Btw the english voice over is pretty bad, hopefully japanese vo is included.

And, once again, no retail release in Europe. What is with Capcom and Europe? Also, this looks like a rather cheap project, I have my doubts on this revival.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Not a remake but a port with slightly better graphics. The lazy route. I hope this sells okay so they consider reviving the franchise. (And Dino Crisis!)

It's not a remake, but at least it's a remaster, tho I'm not sure I'll be able to go back to those fixed cameras.

Maybe not at full price, but this game will end in my hand, I'm sure of that.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

Physical copies only for PS4 and XBO, and only for the North American version.

And yet again, Capcom is being a bag of dicks by not releasing it physically on Switch.

It's the first game I owned on PS2. Bought it 3 days before buying the console itself, but my actual first played was Tekken Tag Tournament.

Disappointing news anyway. I knew it would be a lazy remaster but I at least hoped for a reasonably priced collection. This is going to bomb hard. R.I.P Onimusha fans.
