No. It's main selling point is its versatility. Unless you have any proof to back up your claims?

just about every nintendo handheld has sold great, what more proof do you need? sure versatility is helping it sell better but there is no reason to believe  a nintedo mainline handheld was gonna fail since they have always sold great.

But you do realise that Switch has price point of $300 thats actuly home console price point? For isntance, 3DS was launched with price point of $250 and didnt sell well and thats why only 6 months after launch had huge price cut to $170-180 in order to sell better. If Switch is just a $300 handheld and not actually hybrid you can bet that it wouldnt had so great sales like it have them currently.

Only gaming enthusiast care about power. The market cares about how hype the product is, the games and the features.
If people cared about the power then the results of every gen up until this one would be different.

you are comparing apples to oranges, if people didn't care about power they wouldn't even upgrade there consoles. just compare ps4 to xbox, xbox was the stronger brand with similar games, and ps4 was outselling it the whole gen, i would bet anything if specs were reversed ps4 would be losing in the US by a big margin.

Yes, people do care about power but at some point it hits diminishing returns and other factors come into play.....like the Switch's versatility. At this point in time, if the Switch had Wii level graphics, it certainly wouldn't sell; not sure if even Wii U level Graphics would have sold it despite the added portability. But people look at output of First party like SMO and BOTW plus Third party like Fifa 18, Doom, Wolfeinstein 2 and go "This ain't half bad".

The Switch has just about enough power to be a decent Home Console and an exceptional Handheld at an acceptable price point, that is precisely why it is selling so well. In a way, Nintendo redefined the market with some blue ocean thinking.

Bravo to Nintendo winning July. How long has it been since a Nintendo home console has done so well? 2010?

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
