Should I keep trying to fix Zoo Tycoon?

So I've been trying to get the original Zoo Tycoon on my PC, and a game as old as this always gives me problems. In particular, the resolution goes wonkers and there is no way to play it windowed. And this game has not been re-released digitally, so there's no way of buying an updated version. I've tried to manually change the resolution to 1280x720; 1360x768;1920x1080; 1680x1050; 1920x1200; 1280x768 (recommended resolutions http://www.wsgf.org/dr/zoo-tycoon-complete-collection). And no luck. The best attempt was 1920x1080, but I can't access to 1/3 of the screen, particularly important due to not being able to see the minimap. Please help.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Have you tried a 4:3 resolution like 1024 x 768

Just tried it. Still looks uncomplete.

Dude! This game was awesome! Can you buy it on GOG or Steam yet?

Nope. That's why I'm still trying to fix my old copy.

Hmm, is there a default resolution it can be set to?

If you try to change resolution through this menu, the layout will become completely screwed, and I won't be able to click any option afterwards.

Hmm, did you try right click the application > properties > compatibility tab > "run this program in compatibility mode for: "windows xp"" and also to put a checkmark beside "Disable DPI scaling on high DPI settings"?

YES! It did work! The Disable DPI scaling on high DPI settings was the key! Thank you so much, this has been a pain for a while now. :)
