Forums - Sony Discussion - Rocket League Adding 4K, 60 FPS Support With PS4 Pro Patch

Tagged games:

PlayStation 4 Pro support is on the way for Rocket League, developer Psyonix announced today.

Slated for release next week, the update allows the game to run at 4K and 60 FPS on a PS4 Pro, or 1080p and 60 FPS on a standard PS4. This is true for every arena in the game in both single-screen and two-player split-screen modes. When playing split screen with three or four players, you'll see a 60 FPS framerate in "most arenas at the same resolutions," according to a PlayStation Blog post.

Psyonix said last year that it was investigating the possibility of a PS4 Pro patch, but it never committed to releasing one. You can see all the games with Pro patches here. Without one, games don't benefit from its additional horsepower, although a new feature called Boost mode can offer improvements.
This update brings more than just technical improvements. There are other bug fixes and optimizations for performance issues, as well as a new Player's Choice crate that consists of items voted on by the community.
I REALLY love this game :3

Can't wait for this. HDR would look amazing in this game as well.

Great guys, always implement new stuff to make the owners happy. Have played it 750 hours lol (on PC)

Better performance for OG PS4 owners in the same patch is a nice gesture.

Currently it doesn't support super-sampling, hopefully they'll add that for people using a 1080p tv with the Pro.

@Barkley I'll be playing the 1080p pro version so that's fantastic news.

But yeah better performance for regular ps4 owners is fantastic.

I've played about 4,000 matches of this on ps4 and play it nearly everyday. It was the surprise hit of 2015

I misread your post as saying it does support super-sampling.  That's a shame it doesn't.

There are rumours that a future update (probably 5.0) will make super-sampling a system level feature.  So games won't need it programmed and it will be done by the ps4. Probably an option you can just select on and off like boost mode. Hopefully.
