Shall I get Fallout 4?

I'm going through a bit of a dilemma at the moment. All the games I really want to play are not coming out until April / May. Until then the only game I'm interested in is Fallout4, but here is where it gets complicated,  I didn't like Fallout 3!

It was the first time I played anything like it and I couldn't get into it. I had no sense of where I was going and where to go to. The map was pretty much a blank piece of paper. The inventory was a pain as I couldn't figure out what to keep and what to throw away and it constantly kept getting my player maxed on the weight restrictions.

Since then I've avoided anything remotely close to Fallout. I refused to play Skyrim, Mass Effect, The Witcher 2... pretty much anything that may be a WRPG.

However, during the end of the PS3 my friend convinced me to buy Skyrim. I played it, I enjoyed it and then went on to buy and love Mass Effect and The Witcher 3.

I've got no sp game to play until Ratchet & Clank comes out towards the end of April.

At the moment Game is selling Fallout 4 for £20. I have £140 on my Game Gift Card and with a CEX price match I'll get £17 back when I trade it.

So people, what do you guys think? Shall I buy it or just wait?

I'd recommend a different game. If you didn't like the third, you won't like the fourth much.

Try Xenoblade if you never tried it. If you liked the first, you'll really like the second.

Never played Xenoblade and I no longer have a WiiU. The other option is waiting for Dark Souls 3. Bloodborne was my first Souls game and I really enjoyed it.

Did you ever play a Professor Layton game? it is incredibly fun. The stories are also not that bad

I'm not sure what to say. Usually, if you didn't like Fallout 3, I would say to stay far away from Fallout 4. However, it has much the same core as Skyrim, so I'm not sure what to suggest.

I will say that Fallout 4 has a massive amount of content, much more than Fallout 3 or Skyrim, so there isn't much question about having nothing to do. It features settlement building, which is mostly what you need junk for, but you can skip that if you want to avoid weight issues. Just pick up valuable pieces of armor and weapons plus junk items like tape and oil that you need for upgrading your gear.

You could also make it more 'Skyrim-like' by going with a melee build. Strength has the added benefit of letting you carry more stuff.

It's absolutely not a hand-holding game, though. It's for people who like to explore and find hidden locations and gems.

Always wanted to, but at the moment I only own a PS4. Got rid of my WiiU late last year.

Yeah, the content in Fallout 3 didn't bother me, it was the not knowing where to go and ending up just wandering around aimlessly for hours not getting any further. Other games before and after would give you some idea which general direction to walk in.

I'll probably skip settlements as the idea doesn't interest me at all. I don't mind playing with a gun either as I enjoy FPS games too.

If you liked skyrim and like using guns in games then you should get it. Might want to wait til some of the DLC comes out though. Mods are coming out for the PS4 in June.

Do eeeet.

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

Yes. I'm awaiting the dlc, so i can start playing it again. My personal GOTY for last year.
