Does this FF also features the same horrible DRM of FF VIII on Steam? The one that forces you to connect to Square Enix database?

Sooooo awsome to see Final Fantasy IX on Steam! Turning off random encounters is for casuals but the high speed mode sounds interesting.

Next up: FFXII HD

High speed mode is awesome.. Such a time saver to play with 3 times the normal speed.. Especially with IX which ihas a pretty slow battle system..

Thanks for the heads up, Basil! New features are always nice, but I'll probably leave the game as it was.

The Steam page doesn't have a warning about third party software/DRM like FF 8... yet.

I hope this comes out for PS4 later as well. I'd love to replay the game again with the new visuals and perks.

Looks like it got the same treatment as the new FF7 PC/PS4 port. If this gets super cheap, then I may consider it. Still have 2 PS1 copies tho.

Highly likely it will come out considering the PC version of FFVII came out on PS4.

I can see the same thing for FFVIII but for some reason SE is ignoring FFVIII for now o.O.

I would like it if FF8 to get the same treatment yet not sure why Square is being all hush about it.  Figured FF8 should've gotten the treatment first since it was already on PC before.

I have 2 copies of FF9 for PS1 as well as the PSN digital, yet I still can't get enough of this and will buy it again if/when it comes out for PS4.
