The anime characters don't look any better or worse than Xenoblade Chronicles X's character models. They look equally as bad. So why is no one loosing their shit over it..?

Star Ocean isn't named the savior of the genre, game of the generation, and without fault like Xenoblade has been. The criticism is only in response to the greater attention brought towards the game based on the amount of praise heaped on it.

Also, you might want to take another look at those character models...

in all honesty i think this game would benefit a lot if it was cel-shaded like the Tales of games, and the reason why i say that is because... (how do i put it...) the character designs are way to "anime-esque", and they kind of look weird being 3d models (mostly the girls)... well actually all of them would look better (and closer to their original design) if they were cel-shaded.

I think the problem is exactly what you stated at the start though, it'd just be another tales game, let's remember that Tales is what started that type of combat and story line, SO is a copy of Tales in essence so they can't really do that these days or people would just not give as much shit about it.

When people complain about SO4, it is never because its a bad game. It just VA's and Story. The game and the content that comes with it is a full course meal, like all tri-Ace games. 


Hmm..;no. Star ocean 4 IS a bad game (at least, for me), especially when you compare him to Star ocean 3.

 

Characters are worse, story is even worse too, gameplay is easier/less fun, musics...what musics ? I don't even remember one music from SO4...

And so on. The trophy system for the game is horrible too, with individual trophies who force you to play characters you don't like if you want to 100% the game while it was general for SO3 (and it unlocked content).

 

It was hard to finish the game...but not because of the difficulty...

 

Anyways, this SO looks much better, normal...So3 is my favorite.

SO3 >>> So2 > SO1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> SO4.
