Shovel Knight is arguably the best indie game of all time in many a people's eyes. At the very least, it is ONE of the best. It perfectly captures the 8 bit era and intorduces us to something different with the shovel weapon/digging concept. I say all this because it has become an instant classic and, rather than a Shovel Knight 2 taking place in another 8 bit engine, I want them to do something that would rock my world.
I want Shovel Knight 2 to be in 16 bit, next year or in two years.
Then, I want them to do a 32 bit (still 2-D) Shovel Knight 3, within the next 3-4 years.
Then, I want them to do Shovel Knight 64, within the next 4-5 years. I want t his to be a 3d adventure game that changes the way we think about Shovel Knight like Mario 64 had us change the way we thought about Mario.
After that I want a Shovel Knight standard definition game (480p) in 3d in the next 5-6 years.
Then a Shovel Knight high definition (720p) in 3d in the next 6-7 years.
Then a HD Shovel Knight Adventure (1080p) in 3d in the next 7-8 years, as well as an HD 2-d adventure (Shovel Knight 4) in the next 7-8 years.
****
I want the sequels to progress as games progressed. I want to see the SLOW and GLORIOUS evolution of Shovel Knight before our eyes. I want to remember what it was like to be a kid in the 90's again and witness TRUE graphical enhancements that blew my mind (unlike the "enhancements" that ps4/xboxone give us over the ps3/360, which are totally NOT mindblowing). I want, for the next decade (at the least) for Shovel Knight to be the one game that is the "Ode'" to the past. I want it consistently there for us all to go to when we want to remember what it was like 10-20 years prior. And I want it for all systems for all to enjoy (this is coming from a Nintendo fanboy btw).
