I've been looking for a new GBA SP for a while now, and apparently everything on eBay has terribly high shipping prices (30-70 dollars), but I've found this really great deal from a Japanese seller offering a GBA SP for 26 bucks with FREE shipping.

Sounds all great, right? Well, I've just realized that the label says AGS001, I've never really seen a non-backlit screen GBA before, Is it really as bad as people claim? Should I jump on this deal or is it not worth it?

Is it a regular GBA, or an SP with a busted backlight? If it's an SP it is backlit unless it's broken.

If it's an SP with a busted backlight, don't bother. It's worse than the original GBA.

Anyway, unless you are going to use it mostly at home and have a good light source, you shouldn't get a model without backlight.

It's the model 001 version.

I think it's supposed to be a frontlight or something.

Is it a chinese clone? One like this:

Think the game box (yes with an x) had decent reviews

Using the frontlight model is fine. It's no big deal. However, if you want a certain case to have the 101 backlight, you can transplant the screens. I did that with my NES GBA SP.

No don't get it... the light u can get from lamps or room lights is nowhere near the light quality to brighten up the SP screen fully. Get a VANILLA GBA or keep looking for a SP that works... or just buy a Nintendo DS DSi

Can I buy backlit screens?

I already do have an emulator on my phone, and I even use my Wiimote as a controller, but nothing beats the original experience.
