right now it seems possible for the PS3 to beat the first year 2:1, but ofcourse it will be hard to keep the current ratio (it's at ~2.57:1 at this point) in the next weeks, for european launch made quite a big spike last year

I think there is a good possibility for the PS3 to end up at 2:1 or better though, because there still are many very big game releases this year.

European launch week will be impossible to beat, but I think the launches of GTA IV, Home, MGS4 and GT5 prologue will compensate for that later on. But November/December 2008 should be when we see PS3 sales skyrocket beyond last year's figures.

Those were some really poor numbers last year, this is truly the embodiment of improvement if I ever saw it. And these are slow months statistically, so the numbers will probably grow as the year progresses.

Seems like a slimline PS3 priced $299 will be some kind of sweetspot for many gamers .

26% said to own a PS3 already.

5.1% (buy one ASAP) + 8.5% (waiting for specific announced game) + 2.8% (DS3) = 16.4% expecting to buy one soon.

30.8% (waiting for $299) + 4.7% (Slimline) = 35.5%
