And you all thought it was going to be a mobile game.

That didn’t take long. Koei Tecmo has announced Samurai Warriors: Chronicles 3 for PS Vita and 3DS in this week’s Famitsu.

Due out later this year in Japan, the game will feature a large number of new scenarios and systems, and more than 50 military commanders from Samurai Warriors 4 will be participating. “Hyper Attacks” with new elements and “Rage Attacks” will also be present, as well as an increased number of character edit entries.

Does the Vita have other Warriors games? Or the 3DS?

That One Piece game, I think.

Just wondering if there's already an audience on the platform and or how recently did they get a new game.

The 3DS got a Warriors game as a launch title. Dont remember what it was called though...

Yes, Vita has a couple of dynasty warriors games and 3ds has the first two of this franchise /spin off (Chronicles 1st and Chronicle 2nd)

Vita had a Dynasty warriors at launch, called Next. Then It has the one piece game, and Dynasty warriors 8 Xtreme Legends (an update of the original)

VITA has Dynasty Warriors Next since launch. And Samurai Warriors 4 will be release on VITA october 21.
