Good 'ole John Lucas, alive and kicking. This guy would say anything to keep Nintendo free of any responsibility for any of their troubles.

He did mention Nintendo failed at marketing the Wii U. First time I hear him though
People confuse the conspiracy with reality. There is no organized movement by third parties behind the scenes to make Nintendo systems fail. So there is no conspiracy. There is, however, a reality where it is in the best interests of many third parties for Nintendo to not be the lead platform because a) they don't want to compete with the world's biggest software publisher b) they want their titles to be the lead games on platforms (ie COD on XBOX) and c) Nintendo will not build hardware to the specs 3rd parties want and sell it at a loss to make 3rd parties happy.

the reality is that 3rd party publishers are convinced that they won't make money by funding a big project for WiiU and Nintendo has done very little to alleviate that fear
the big publishers are working with razor thin margins and need to sell millions of copies of such a big game, so they are extremely conservative with how they use their money

This sums up my thoughts pretty nicely. I doubt devs actually want to see the Wii U fail. They're just going where the money is.
Well the industry can thank EA for leading Nintendo down the wrong path with their unprecedented support.

All the things he thinks makes publishers etc scared of Nintendo being succesful are the same things I hate about Nintendo. I don't want silly gimmicks I just want more powerful PS or Xbox. |
I cannot stand this sort of attitude.
People who have this attitude are completely unaware of all of the experimentation and, as you call them, "gimmicks" which have paved the way for companies like MS to be successful within the gaming industry.
