Forums - Gaming Discussion - Shuhei Yoshida on Killzone: Shadow Fall: “The Best Killzone Ever for me”

Tagged games:

Don't know if already posted, I was browsing N4G and found this:

Shu seems to like the game a lot, he calls it the best Killzone ever. Personally I don't care about the series, I don't like FPS too much and Killzone always seemed boring. I could be wrong though.

Anyway what is your expectations for the game guys?

It looks to be the best ever to me, also...

I'm a big fan of Killzone, though it's not just the games themselves but also the framework of the Killzone universe. As I've said other places, it reminds me of the complexity and moral ambiguity of the Dune universe. The thing is, though titles like Killzone 3 were fun, they failed to convey that complexity.

Shadowfall looks like what I've been waiting for, however. If early previews are accurate, it will communicate that feeling of moral dissonance the back-story suggests. Both sides do bad things. Both sides do things that are understandable in terms of protecting their own. Both sides are populated by people who dance for the puppeteers pulling the strings in the name of power and money. That interests me.

From a game-play perspective, I love open FPP shooters. I love games where I can play at a slower pace, where I can be more tactical and decide my own entry points. That's what Shadowfall is looking like to me and I couldn't be more happy about it.

I'm just hoping it lives up to the hype. I have high expectations.

No that statement isn't wrong, but it's right for YOU. Beyond my correction of your choice of words....two more weeks =D

Well said. Though I've not played Killzone 3 - the second one hasn't lived up to what I expected it to be, and the demo for the third was boring IMO.

This Killzone seems to be more extensive... somehow it reminds me of the first one more, in the sense that the first was slower (in terms of framerate too ), but the first did a nicer job of introducing the universe (the manual was wonderful, in the PAL region at least, it was stylized as a newspaper). I'm now considering getting the trilogy to prepare for this KZ, even though I wouldn't have even thought of it before.

I agree.

And I think a lot have to do with the DS4.... the gameplay is way better than any Killzone made before it.

Also, environment scale and variety. It's actually impressive.

Storytelling is quite important to me in Killzone, and so is the "weight" feeling of the controls.

So the story in Killzone is actually good? I never knew it was a strong point in the game!
