I'm a big fan of Killzone, though it's not just the games themselves but also the framework of the Killzone universe. As I've said other places, it reminds me of the complexity and moral ambiguity of the Dune universe. The thing is, though titles like Killzone 3 were fun, they failed to convey that complexity.
Shadowfall looks like what I've been waiting for, however. If early previews are accurate, it will communicate that feeling of moral dissonance the back-story suggests. Both sides do bad things. Both sides do things that are understandable in terms of protecting their own. Both sides are populated by people who dance for the puppeteers pulling the strings in the name of power and money. That interests me.
From a game-play perspective, I love open FPP shooters. I love games where I can play at a slower pace, where I can be more tactical and decide my own entry points. That's what Shadowfall is looking like to me and I couldn't be more happy about it.
I'm just hoping it lives up to the hype. I have high expectations.
