So, it was teh Gamecube's fault.

Hopefully this will repeat since RE6 was also poorly received by the fans

REmake is the best game in the franchise, too bad it did sell so badly. I blame all of you.

It sold 1,420,000 on the GameCube, I would say that's pretty good.

RE 4 sold exactly the same as Remake on GC...how does make any sense

The Resident Evil remake didn't sell well mostly because you made it exclusive to a console that only sold 21 million units in a nine year span. The game was awesome. The platform it was chosen to only be on held it back. If that game would have released for all three consoles at the time, or even just the PS2, it would have done just fine.

EDIT: Now as others have pointed out, it had the same sales on Gamecube as RE4. So that cry baby "wah people didn't like it so we made RE4, RE5, and RE6 action based" is ridiculous. Again though, if you wanted "OMGWTF20MILLSALES!!" you should have done it multiplatform.

Yeah, I was going to say. Those are some nice numbers considering how many GCN units were sold.

Anyway, this is a mixed bag for me. Resident Evil 4 is, in my mind, by far the best game in the series, but the franchise has spiraled way out of control since then.

how can you expect REr to sell great when you took the franchise that was established and sold well on PS and release it on GC of all consoles?

go look at re4 sales compared to REr on GC and more importantly RE4 sales on ps2 lol

RE4 was a change for the better.

I imagine it was like this: "REmake didn't sell, let's make RE4 more action focussed" -> RE4 sells similar numbers -> "OK, we need to port the game to other platforms" -> RE4 sells much more than previous entries -> "our action focus was the right choice"
