i dont get the 6-8 new IP thing. do they not know if the are working on them? how can he not know an exact figure

I think he did that because some people might not consider a game a new IP and he does.  Like he mentioned Battlefront which he considers a new IP, but I don't think most people do.

Not all games in development see a retail release. Some might still be in the planning phase.
