Analysis:
This was a bit of a slow month, meaning there were few radical changes month over month. Except for a 129 point decrease that is. But I feel 762 points is enough data to make a few notes.
First, let us contemplate what people seem to have lost interest in over April. Not Nintendo games; Nintendo platforms combined lost a mere 12 points. Nor was it the PC and 360, which are too small to account for most of the drop. The reason there was such a point decrease this month was the PlayStation family. The PS3 only lost 24 points, true, but the PS4 lost 17 and the Vita lost a whopping 56 points!
Why did the Vita lose so many points? Well, Soul Sacrifice came out. And nothing came to replace it, much like how nothing ever replaced Fire Emblem Awakening on the 3DS a few months ago. The main titles left responsible for any real Vita hype are Tearaway, Final Fantasy X, and Ys. And until E3 comes around, nothing new is likely to be added.
Let's look at the Vita's competitior, the 3DS. It actually gained a couple of points, despite the general decrease, making it the only notable platform to do so (360 going from 14 to 15 points doesn't count). As per usual, the bulk of these points came from Pokemon, but coming in distant second was a new challenger, Zelda. Expect it to only get stronger next month, since many people voted before its announcement. Besides that, Mario & Luigi 4 continue to have some hype, though Pokemon and Zelda are the clear stars.
The PC and 360 combined only had 57 points this month. Microsoft needs to present its next console already. Of course, considering the lack of PS4 hype other than that for Killzone, perhaps they're on to something.
The PS3 was at its lowest so far this year, with "only" 306 points. The Last of Us made up about 30% of that, so it'll be interesting to see how far the PS3 drops once it's finally out.
The Wii U continues its muddling about, with no notable changes since X and co were revealed.
Square Enix was this month's surprise winner, getting nearly 100 points. However, most of those are from anticipated ports of PS2 games.
Minor Note: Somehow, publisher data for Red Barrels went absent while I made the charts and whatnot. Please excuse their absence.
