When you develop a small gimmick or fun new gameplay idea that can't encompass an entire game, then yes, you pair it with something existing that you can tack it into.

I don't like this. :( I was really excited when they announced Zelda yesterday but the more I think about it, the more worried I am that they're constantly trying to gimmick, refresh, and reinvent something by moving away from its core values it has in its roots.

As long as touch screen control isnt the only option I am fine with it.

From what I've heard, the game seems to control almost entirely with standard button input. So we should be good there!

"One is just the way that we develop games. What we don't do is start off and say we're going to develop a new game in X series or what are we going to do with it?"

bull crap. thats exactly what they do. im not attacking the quality of the games and im not attacking nintendo. but that statement is just full of bull crap. what he is saying is that they think of idea's for any type of game then decide what game it works for? thats just a load of nonesense. we all know how nintnedo will never stop milking its big franchises and they start off exactly with saying "we're going to develop a new game in X series".

I believe them, Kirby Epic Yarn wasn't meant to be a Kirby game. After time they saw how good it fits Kirby. Of course they develope the next Mario and the next Zelda from ground up cause every retard would cry if they wouldn't. Stop crying. Nintendo only has the gaming indusrty to make money and still people want more and more and more. You know why people still love their franchises? Cause they have perfect gameplay every fucking time.  If they would leave their beloved and exisitng characters for 10 years every shithead would cry. And every other company would do the same if they would have franchises as well known.

Thank you for redirecting people to my thread :D

@topic: While I kinda agree with him Nintendo shouldn't push it too far. People are starting to get tired of Mario, with the financial reserves they have they could take dozends of failed new IP's without getting in serious danger (only a bad reputation :D)

as i said im not attacking nintendo of the games. but this PR statement is just full of shit. game development doesnt start out that way. yes maybe a kirby game happaned to be created in that particular way. but he is stating it like its nintendo's way of creating games which is just full of nonesense.

another example is Metroid prime never was meant to be a Metroid, just a FPS. and this was in the late ninties so they do this quite a time.
